Dice in hand.
My luck has been good so far in 2010. Yet I wonder with each passing day what will challenge me next. I have been working long days, matching a friend on his 50 hour work weeks. Slowly but surely my ebay store is being rebuilt. As print media crumbles, I feel that the digital road is the only logical solution to the question, ‘Where are my talents best utilized?’
I think I picked a wise time to get out of the print media industry.
Right now, here’s what we gotta do…
Focus on what is important. Cut away the superfluous.
Do what it takes to achieve happiness.
Think about what you can do to enhance your world.

creepy date in Luxembourg
Well, my readers have been calling and emailing asking for more bad date stories from the past. I seem to have a plethora of them, so here’s one from 1998.
I met a guy on the internet named Thierry. He lived in Luxembourg, and like most people do over the internet, he seemed halfway normal. After chatting for a couple of months, I decided to meet him in Belgium. This was a stupid idea for several reasons, most importantly that I had already met and started dating someone back home. I foolishly thought we could be friends and have fun.
Anyway, I went and arrived at a weird time when the Brussels airport was kind of dead. Thierry was kind of late picking me up and then wanted to take a train ride. Holy shit, he was the scariest looking guy in real life. I remember being super tired and falling asleep staring at his lecherous chrome dome on the train.
We got off the train and went shopping for a bit. Thierry committed the ultimate sin at this point, talking shit about a pair of blue suede boots I wanted (and never got). I am already hating the guy but trying to hang in there. Eventually we drove back to Luxembourg.
When we got to his place, there were pretty much only accommodations for one. I asked him if he could take me to stay with his mother, something which he had agreed upon before I left the States. He grumbled, and eventually took me over there. It sucked at his mom’s house and we sat through an awkward dinner.
It didn’t suck because his mom was mean or anything. It sucked because we had no ability to communicate. I speak English and Spanish. This woman spoke the four languages of Luxembourg: French, German, Flemish and Luxembourgish (no joke). I tried to relate that I wanted to spend the night, but it was no use. Thierry beamed triumphantly and took me back to his lair.
When I got there, I locked myself in the bathroom and called homeboy in the States. I ended up sleeping on the couch with a phone in one hand programmed to speed dial the USA, and a wine bottle to shank him with in the other. I escaped the next day but had to pay a few hundred dollars to change my plane ticket, because it was the day of the dead.
I was so irritated when I got home that I pegged a farmer driving a tractor in the head with an old, stale piece of marzipan.
