Nobuko Sakayori

and her divine doll creations

Nobuko Sakayori lives in Omiya, Saitama, Japan and by profession is a cartoon animator. She is also the most talented fashion doll customizer in the world. She has gained international acclaim for her work. She is reknowned not only for her intricate repaints and elaborate beadwork, but also for her stunning capacity to design and execute any concept. Her series of Buddhist goddesses and her contemporary daywear are loved by many. And every year, Nobuko starts a new series or two, as well as adding to the favorites.

Her favorite face molds are Mackie and Steffie, although recently she has taken a liking to the Nichelle mold. Nobuko's favorite colors are purple and brown. About her first attempt at customization, Nobuko says, "I reformed an old toy doll-I think it was the Hawaiian Fun Barbie and I transformed her into a gorgeous lady with ash blonde hair and ivory gown."
